Strawberry Shortcake Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 C flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 C milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 C shortening (butter is the best)

Directions

  1. preheat the oven to 450
  2. mix dry ingredients
  3. Cut shortening into dry ingredients until like coarse crumbs
  4. Make a well and add milk
  5. turn dough onto a floured surface and knead gently (5-10x) do not over-knead
  6. Roll or pat dough 1/2'' thick
  7. Cut with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour
  8. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 12-15min
  9. Butter the biscuits (optional but tasty) and serve with crushed strawberries, milk, and some maple syrup on top
